Brooks/WorldCom HeadquartersWoods Mill Road and South Outer 40 Road, Town & Country, Mo.Brinkmann Constructors used high-tech methods to keep pace with the changing requirements of this client's effort to consolidate staff in a single building and accommodate a corporate merger as project completion neared. Its on-site trailer featured computers networked by high-speed internet connection to the architect and engineering consultants to accelerate construction completion. The five-story facility features two buildings linked by nine bridges through a 250-foot long, 56-foot high triangular atrium with eight granite-faced waterfalls. Extensive data and telecommunications systems included a two-level advanced network operations control center. Exacting craftsmanship was achieved both inside and out, with high-end finishes throughout the interior and a sweeping oval glass curtainwall punctuated by an aluminum composite canopy extending from the circular roof line. The exterior also features brick and limestone, ornamented by aluminum sunscreens over glass bands at each level.
